“To say thank you, is in recognition of humanity”-
Toni Mont

Did you know that the most popular occasion for sending a gift basket is in recognition of “Thanks!”? While thinking of what to write for this blog post I was trying to come up with a way to say that being grateful to another reminds us that we are not solitary beings. That acting upon ones thankfulness benefits both the giver and receiver. But, during my research, I discovered that so many others have said it much better than I ever could! So, in gratefulness to their eloquence, here are some of my favorite quotes on being Thankful:

  • “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” - William Arthur Ward
  • “Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” - 1Chronicles 16:34
  • “Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts.” - David O. McKay
  • “No one who achieves success does so without acknowledging the help of others. The wise and confident acknowledge this help with gratitude.” - Author Unknown

Wow, they did say it so much better than I could have!

M.R. Designs & Gifts has added a new gift basket design specifically for helping you to say “Thank You.” These gift baskets can fit a wide range of budgets and even have a small version at only $12.00 each!

These themed gift basket boxes offer a great alternative to traditional baskets and other types of gift containers, are a good quality and sturdy. The basket box folds down flat when empty so it’s ideal when sending a gift to a corporate office, resort, worksite, or anywhere that a traditional basket or container may be cumbersome.

The boxes alone are exquisite and would fit almost any home or office decor: earth-toned colored tissue paper under nylon mesh with a chocolate-brown fabric liner sewn in. When stacked, The Executive Tower stands around 26″ tall! After the delicious gourmet contents are gone, these elegant and upscale boxes will long remain as a testament to your gift.

Its European-styling gives the arrangement a classic and corporate appearance, but as beautiful as this gift is on the outside, the fun has only begun because its delicious secrets are still to be revealed. Carefully tucked down inside are delectable gourmet items such as: A pleasant variety of cookies including thumbprint/fruit cookies, cinnamon tea cookies and decadent organic chocolate cookies, indulgent chocolates like chocolate covered cherries, premium salsa and flavorful chips, tasty crackers, handcrafted jam, cheese spread, wine wafers, coffee, tea, handmade biscotti, coffee wafers, tea wafers, crispy toast points, smoked salmon, honey roasted peanuts, gourmet popcorn, cheese straws, fresh and delicious handmade toffee, and more! U.S. Department of Labor statistics show that there are more than 4.1 million secretaries and administrative assistants working in the U.S., and 8.9 million people working in various administrative support roles.

Are you wondering if perhaps Administrative Professionals Day (or some refer to it as Administrative Assistant’s Day) wasn’t started by the greeting card companies in order to sell more cards? Nope…

Since 1952, the International Association of Administrative Professionals has sponsored Administrative Professionals Week as a way to honor these hard working office administrators. Administrative Professionals Week is an annual event “to recognize the valuable contributions of office support staff in business and government, and to encourage students to consider careers as administrative professionals.”

Today, Administrative Professionals Week/Day is one of the largest workplace observances (not a public holiday) – other than the celebrating of employee birthdays or major holidays.

In 2000, the IAAP changed the name for Professional Secretaries Week/Day to Administrative Professionals Week/Day, in order to keep pace with changing job titles and the expanding responsibilities of today’s administrative workforce. According to the IAAP, many workers around the world still hold the “secretary” job title; however, many alternative titles have become more popular, such as administrative assistant, office coordinator, administrative specialist, executive assistant or office manager.

Administrative Professionals Day is celebrated worldwide. Activities such as community events, educational seminars and personal gifts of recognition including cards, flowers, gift baskets, luncheons and other tokens of appreciation are given to applaud the invaluable support that the administrative personnel provide every day.

Administrative Professionals Week is always the last full week in April. This year, the Administrative Professionals Week theme is “Power of Commitment” and is celebrated the week of April 18-24, and Administrative Professionals Day is on Wednesday, April 21, 2010.

So, be sure to mark your calendars now as APW is coming up soon, and remember the Administrative Professionals in your life.
